Our Choirs

Touring Choir

Touring Choir is for advanced singers in grades 6-12. Up to thirty singers may be selected for this choir annually. Our premier performing group offers a stimulating, comprehensive and demanding choral repertoire requiring advanced musical skills. Although facilitated by the Artistic Director, Touring Choir singers research and select music to study and perform, conduct their own rehearsals and seek and evaluate performance opportunities.

In keeping with the nature of the music this group performs, Touring Choir exchanges the traditional Children’s Chorus red vests and blazers for a more sophisticated look. Also, a vocal coach/teacher and choreographer participate in developing skills as needed.

The Touring Choir participates in local, national and international tours. The 2014 Mediterranean Tour included performances at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and with the Corfu Children's Choir in Corfu, Greece. The 2015 tour took the singers to New York City, New England and Canada. In 2016, the choir performed in Northern European countries of Germany, Estonia, Sweden, Finland and Russia. In the summer of 2017, the group toured and performed in Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Malta and Croatia. In the winter of 2018, they traveled to Rome to sing in St. Peter's Basilica once again, this time they performed at the January 1, 2018 Papal Mass alongside The Sistine Chapel Choir. In the summer of 2019, they toured and performed in Iceland, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, and Ireland. In March of 2020, the ensemble appeared in a concert during the ACDA Regional Conference in Mobile, Alabama.

Auditions are held by appointment May through July* for the following school year. Due to extensive repertoire and choreography, a week-long camp is held in late July/August in preparation for the upcoming season.

There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need.

*This timeframe may vary depending on the season schedule to allow ample time for preparation.

“JCC truly embodies some of the best qualities of team sports: camaraderie, discipline, patience, persistence, and positive mentoring.”

Wali Gomes, JCC Parent

“Music plays a major role in the full development of a child. Not only does it enrich lives, it also serves as a pathway for students to express themselves and explore new ways to communicate with others. For 20 years, kudos to the JCC for molding the lives of young artists, and I look forward to the next 20 years.”

Tim Cost, President, Jacksonville University

“Through music and your leadership, these children learn to perform in different languages while experiencing the diversity of an array of world cultures. The understanding they gain will serve them well as they enter adulthood.”

R. Randall Onstead, former President/CEO of Winn-Dixie

“The JCC is more than just a chorus; it is truly a life-changing experience. The Chorus has opened me to new experiences, provided me with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and helped me discover singing is not just one of my interests but rather a lifelong passion.”

Emma D., JCC Alum

“Music is such a valuable part of life. The way it enriches one’s life and encourages creativity, I do not believe anything else can do as much. We in Jacksonville are certainly blessed to have the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.”

Scott C. Snyder, President, Compass Consulting Group
