Primary CHOIR
The PRIMARY Choir is open to all children in Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade!
The Primary Choir curriculum is open to all children in Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd grade and is a semester-based program in fall and spring. Each semester will contain 10-week sessions. In each session, children will engage in short and exciting lessons that introduce the building blocks of music to them. The curriculum used in the Primary Choir is designed to provide children with the opportunity to explore music in the following three ways:
1. Melodic – to have melodies in their heads and learn to coordinate their voices to sing those melodies.
2. Rhythmic – to feel the beat and its divisions and how that beat is grouped in either 2s or 3s.
3. Artistic – to be moved by music in the many ways music can elicit an emotional response.
Each year, participating singers receive group instruction one time a week and perform a brief recital in class for parents at the end of each semester. No audition is needed for the Primary Choir! Space for the Primary Choir is limited.
