Audition

Do you know a child who loves to sing?

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity, and readiness. Singers do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The 15-minute audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune and to hold one’s voice part against others. Here's a little video preview of the audition process.

Auditions are held by appointment in April through August for the following school year and in December through early January for the spring semester based on availability.  For singers who will enter kindergarten and first grade - no audition is necessary - please register for Primary Choir here.

There is no fee to audition. Full and partial scholarships are available based on financial need. Tuition is charged to cover a portion of the actual cost of the program.

“JCC truly embodies some of the best qualities of team sports: camaraderie, discipline, patience, persistence, and positive mentoring.”

Wali Gomes, JCC Parent

“Through music and your leadership, these children learn to perform in different languages while experiencing the diversity of an array of world cultures. The understanding they gain will serve them well as they enter adulthood.”

R. Randall Onstead, former President/CEO of Winn-Dixie

“Being a part of the JCC has not only allowed Christian to experience the fun, excitement and pleasure of singing with friends, it has also helped him to develop a sense of confidence that comes from life skills of hard work and perseverance.”

Elaine Bourne, JCC Parent

“Music is such a valuable part of life. The way it enriches one’s life and encourages creativity, I do not believe anything else can do as much. We in Jacksonville are certainly blessed to have the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus.”
